In terms of the goods that are directly shipped to the Amazon Fulfillment Center Warehouse, Keen Sourcing offers free labeling for both products and packages. Sellers who have some certain knowledge about Amazon are aware of the benefits of FBA, so what are the attention points when labeling products before shipping to the Amazon warehouse?

First, there are two kinds of labels that we need to affix before shipping products/packages to the FBA warehouse: label for packages(MSKU label) and label for products(FNSKU label). The former is attached to the outer box while the latter is stuck to the product itself. Today we will introduce the label for products.

In general, label for products refers to the FNSKU bar code, an inbound code provided by Amazon that is exclusive for each product. The FNSKU bar code is helpful to distinguish and track products. Sellers can label the products by themselves or pay Amazon to do it.

FNSKU label

If the product fails to be in line with the pre-processing logistics requirements, security requirements, and merchandise restrictions of Amazon, the following consequences may occur: Amazon Fulfillment Center rejects, abandons or returns inventory; future shipments to Amazon Fulfillment Center is prohibited; or Amazon Fulfillment Center charges for pre-processing work or additional packaging work left undone.

To avoid losses, sellers must make sure that every product is labeled before shipping and the label should be clearly visible.

Here are some tips for labeling products

  1. Printing Portal: You can print the Amazon bar code of a product from the “Label the product” page when you create a package, or print it from the “Manage Inventory” page at any time.
  2. Printer Recommendations: Choose a thermal or laser printer, do not use an inkjet printer.
  3. Printer Maintenance Suggestions: Scan Amazon bar codes for testing on a regular basis; use a printer with a print resolution of at least 300 DPI; test, clean and replace print heads regularly.
  4. Amazon Bar Codes Requirements: When printing the Amazon bar code on the label, make sure that the printed label has ASIN/FNSKU, the product name, the condition of the product, and that there is enough space around the bar code and its related text.
  5. Label Placement Requirements: Cover all other visible bar codes apart from serial number bar codes or transparency verification code labels; attach bar codes to the outside of all pre-processing materials; do not affix bar codes to bend areas or corners of packages; leave a 0.65 cm gap between the edge of the label and the edge of the package. If the entire box is shipped in the original packaging, make sure that each product in the original packaging has an Amazon bar code and that any other bar codes on the box have been removed.
  6. Label Paper Requirements: All Amazon bar codes must be printed on a white non-reflective label with a removable sticker using black ink. When using a laser printer, the system generates a PDF file that supports various label sizes for printing. If the printer attempts to scale the PDF print area, be sure to set the printer scaling to None or 100%.
  7. Common Mistakes of Sellers: Wrong labeling; missing product bar codes; unscannable bar codes; incorrect product/package pre-processing.
